Deep garnet-purple in color, the Clos Grangeneuve reveals a good intensity of pure blackberry and raspberry notes, plus suggestions of bouquet garni, iron ore and woodsmoke, with a touch of truffles. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly styled and refreshing, delivering crunchy red and black fruits with compelling savory accents and a soft texture, finishing with a lively lift.

• Decanter: Juicy and bright on the palate, the fruit is there at the fore then comes the tannins which coat the mouth - they're grippy and take hold though still allow some chewy fruit to linger on the mid palate.

• James Suckling: This is rich and layered with sweet berries, mushrooms and some chocolate. Medium-to full-bodied, savory and juicy. Very traditional in nature.
