Producer Information
Lorgeril Maison & Domaines is a producer based in the Languedoc-Roussillon. 300 hectares (740 acres) of vines are farmed in the appellations of Cabardès, Minervois, Minervois-la-Livinière, Saint-Chinian, Faugères, Côtes du Roussillon, Cotes du Roussillon Villages, Maury and Languedoc. Vineyards are split among six individual estates; Château de Pennautier, Domaine de Garille, Château de Ciffre, Domaine de la Borie Blanche, Mas des Montagnes and Château de Caunettes. Key sub brands are the Counts of Lorgeril, the Orangeraie range, the Gray of Garille, the Summer Dew, Galine and the 1620. Château de Ciffre is in the process of being certified organic. The estate was founded in 1620 and is now owned by husband and wife team, Nicolas de Lorgeril and Miren de Saint Chamas. The estate's vineyards cover varying terroirs made up of limestone, black and brown shale, gneiss and sandstone. Altitudes range between 200 and 400 meters (650 to 1,300 ft). Although during the day they are exposed to the hot sun, the cool air at night helps cool and regulate the grapes.
