        Producer Information

Schubert Wines is a New Zealand wine producer, found in the Wairarapa wine region of the country's North Island. The Martinborough estate produces a collection of wines based on the Pinot Noir, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc grape varieties. Schubert was founded by Kai Schubert and Marion Deimling in 1998 with the estate vines previously planted in 1989. An additional vineyard in East Taratahi, just north of Martinborough was planted throughout 1999 and 2000, predominantly with Pinot Noir but also small portions of Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. All vines were certified organic in 2013. At harvest, grapes are hand-picked in the vineyard to preserve integrity and prevent excess oxygen. This vigilance is carried into the winery; the pressing cycle is extrememly gentle and pumping is avoided for the movement of juice and wine. The Schubert wine portfolio is predominantly reds. The Block B and Marion's Vineyard are a duo of varietal Pinot Noirs whilst the Con Brio is a blend of Pinot Noir with Syrah and Merlot. The Schubert Sauvignon Blanc is fermented in both stainless steel and oak barrels whilst the Tribianco is a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Muller-Thurgau.
