      Reviews:

      • Wine Advocate: The high point of the Mouiex portfolio this year is the beautiful 2022 La Fleur-Pétrus, a wine that derives from a number of prime clay-gravel parcels on Pomerol's plateau. Wafting from the glass with aromas of cassis and cherries mingled with hints of orange zest, pencil shavings and toasty oak, it's medium to full-bodied, ripe and fleshy, with an ample core of fruit, ripe tannins and a long, perfumed finish. Seamless and complete, it will offer a broad drinking window.
      • James Suckling: Very structured LFP with black berry, chocolate, walnut and spice character. Full yet fresh with tannic tension and energy in the finish. One for the cellar.

            Producer Information

Château La Fleur-Pétrus is a wine estate in the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest in the region. The wine is Merlot-dominant, and is known for its finesse, elegance and ageworthiness. The estate vineyard extends to just under 19 hectares (46 acres) and is planted chiefly to Merlot (91 percent) with six percent Cabernet Franc and three percent Petit Verdot. The core vineyard is situated across the road from Château Pétrus and adjacent to Château Lafleur in the eastern quadrant of the Pomerol appellation. This site has more gravel than either of its neighbors, which likely has a role in the more refined style of the wine. La Fleur-Pétrus is typically vinified in cement and stainless steel, and then aged in a mixture of new and old French oak for 18 months. Annual production is around 45,000 bottles. The property was bought by Jean-Pierre Moueix in 1953, but was largely replanted after the frosts of 1956. The property was enlarged in 1994 after vines (and a country house built in 1782) were purchased from Château Le Gay and again in 2012 with the purchase of a plot near Le Pin.
