Champagne Cattier is a family-run Champagne house based in Rilly-la-Montagne in the heart of the Montagne de Reims region. It produced its first wines in 1918.The range is headed by the single-vineyard Clos du Moulin Brut and Brut Rosé. The former is a 50:50 combination of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The latter is 60:40 and includes 14 percent red wine.The first Clos du Moulin wine was the 1951 vintage, released in 1956. Since the 1960s the wine has been a combination of three vintages, chosen for outright quality and ageworthiness.The Clos du Moulin is a 2.2-hectare (5.4-acre) walled vineyard in Ludes. Purchased by the family in 1950, it dates back to the 18th Century. A windmill once sat at the center of the property, which lies on an exposed bluff, hence its name.The next tier is the collection from Cattier's premier cru vineyards. This group includes non-vintage Brut, Brut Nature and Brut Rosé in all of which Pinot Meunier plays a prominent role, and a Blanc de Noirs that is mostly Pinot Noir. There is also a Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay and a vintage wine based on one-third of each of the three main Champagne varieties.
