Glenmorangie Nectar D'Or Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Nectar D'Or is probably a reference to the golden nectar that was previously held in the casks used to finish the whisky. This is a sauternes finished single malt from the Glenmorangie distillery, a fruity, vinous release from the Highland distillery.

Glenmorangie Nectar D'Or Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Full of dessert wines, a little fruitiness with a good barley sweetness. A mix of honey and apricot skins.

Palate: Notes of desert wine, with cereal notes and barley. A touch of malty spice and berry fruits.

Finish: Long with a good helping of oak. More apricot skins and dessert wines linger.

Distillery Information

The Glenmorangie distillery was established in 1843, on the Dornoch Firth by brothers William and John Matheson. The site originally held a farm distillery under the name Morangie. There is evidence that distillation was carried out at this site during the early 18th century. Production began in November of 1849. During the latter part of the 19th century Glenmorangie began overseas exportation and destinations included Europe and the United States.
