Distilled by Donner-Peltier Distillers in Thibodaux, LA 1 Louisiana Whiskey contains a mashbill of corn, rye, barley, and rice (an uncommon ingredient in whiskey). It's aged (though, the aging and barrel type are undisclosed) and bottled at 47% ABV.
LA1 Louisiana Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: The aroma is toasted rye and pumpernickel stacked high and doused with Confectioners sugar.
Palate: The palate is fairly similar -- dry pumpernickel, toasted rye bread, and dry chocolate malt.
Finish: Wood char accompany the rye spices at the finish.
Distillery Information
Donner-Peltier Distillers, the Thibodaux-based distillery, was founded in 2011 by Dr. Tom & Beth Donner and Dr. Henry & Jennifer Peltier as a project dreamed up while sipping rum cocktails and wondering why no one in Louisiana, specifically Thibodaux, was making rum out of the sugarcane grown in their backyards.
