Distillery Information

"Laphroaig distillery was founded in 1815 by brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston, members of the Clan Donald. After a period of family ownership, Ian Hunter significantly expanded the distillery, and following his death, his longtime secretary Bessie Williamson took over. Over the decades, ownership passed through various corporations, including Long John International, Whitbread, and Allied Domecq, before becoming part of the current owner, Beam Suntory. "
