This is a really interesting bottling of American whiskey. For one, because Tennessee whisky is usually made with corn-forward mashbills like bourbon and this is a rye whiskey, but more because parcels of it were finished in oloroso octaves or Pedro Ximénez casks to give an unusual but welcome sherried dimension.

Nose: Cherry and strawberries are joined by a medley of tropical fruit among charred oak, dark chocolate, and chalk dust.

Palate: Baking spices and rich toffee join the fun with hints of vanilla cola, black tea, and chocolate-covered raisins.

Finish: Burnt toast and a hint of cherry.

That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottles limited edition whiskies from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels that feature prominent figures from the whisky industry, tales from the histories of certain distilleries, or even (in the case of their Aultmores) a Velociraptor fighting a shark!
