Detailed Description
The Oxford Artisan distillery uses unique populations of sustainably farmed heritage grain to produce its whiskies, avoiding the use of agri-chemicals to ensure restoration of the land and to support biodiversity. Comprised of grains harvested in 2017, this whisky is built upon a core of 90% maslin (a mix of rye and wheat grown together) alongside 10% malted barley, resulting in an approximate mash bill of 70% rye, 20% wheat, and 10% malted barley.
The Oxford Artisan Distillery 2017 Harvest Rye Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Dried red fruits and garden herbs, a touch of liquorice, and mint are followed by honeyed almonds, sticky dates, and porridge with golden syrup.
Palate: Toasty notes of oak and vanilla support notes of chocolate raisins and roasted nuts, with wheat biscuits and some earthy coffee notes beneath.
Finish: Mocha, charred oak, herbaceous rye spice.

The Oxford Artisan Distillery (TOAD, previously known as The Spirit of TOAD) is the first ever legal distillery in Oxford, England. It is the first certified organic "grain-to-glass" distillery in the United Kingdom, covering all parts of the distillery process.
