      Reviews:

      • Wine Enthusiast: Still youthful, this traditional wine from a great Burgundy vintage is showing fine vigor, ripe fruits and firm tannins. It has spice and is almost honeyed in its sweetness, with plums and intense, mature acidity. With its firm core, give this wine several more years of aging.

        Producer Information

Domaine Henri Rebourseau is a well-regarded wine producer based in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin in the northern Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy's Côte d'Or heartland. The domaine produces principally red wines from the Pinot Noir variety from a range of vineyards (from standard "village" wines to premier and grand cru holdings) in the area. The domaine boasts just under 14 hectares (34 acres) of vineyards, principally in Gevrey and neighboring Chambolle-Musigny, as well as an exceptionally well-situated and sizeable 2.2 hectare (5.4 acre) parcel in the center of the Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot. Other prime holdings include the grands crus Chambertin, Mazy-Chambertin, Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze and Charmes-Chambertin as well as the Gevrey premier cru titles Fonteny and La Perrière. The estate's genesis dates back to the mid-Ninteenth Century when Jean-Baptiste Rebourseau and his wife Louise-Victoire Philippon consolidated a range of vineyard holdings in the region. The estate was passed onto his two sons, Émile and the eponymous Henri, and in 1949, the estate passed to Henri's son, Pierre Rebourseau. In 1980, Pierre Rebourseau hands over the reigns to his grandson, Jean de Surrel, who oversees a shift to organic and biodynamic viticulture at the estate. In 2018, French industrialists Olivier and Martin Bouygues buy a controlling share of the domaine, reportedly worth €45 million. Jean de Surrel was succeeded by his sons Bénigne and Louis de Surrel who now work alongside veteran Bordeaux winemaker Hervé Berland of Château Montrose (acquired by the Bouygues brothers in 2006).
