Vivid aromas of raspberry, strawberry, red licorice and exotic baking spices. Explosive red berry flavors are suave, sexy and almost sweet, but there's just enough acidity and fine tannins to ensure focus and lift.

Detailed Description
Vivid aromas of raspberry, strawberry, red licorice and exotic baking spices. Explosive red berry flavors are suave, sexy and almost sweet, but there's just enough acidity and fine tannins to ensure focus and lift. The fruit builds on the rich finish, which features a liqueur-like strawberry quality that manages to retain freshness. Captivating and flat-out delicious.
Reviews:
- Wine Advocate: The 2004 Salanques is the second wine of Mas Doix made from barrels not making the cut for Costers de Vinas Viejas. It is 65% Garnacha, 20% Carinena, and equal parts Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon aged 14 months in French oak. Inky purple, the wine has a lovely perfume of mineral, truffle, pencil lead, kirsch, black currant, and blueberry. Ripe and full-bodied, the wine has a velvety texture, superb depth, and gobs of flavor.
Producer Information
Founded in 1998 by the Doix and Llagostera families, the winery in the village of Poboleda (Priorat Spain) continues a tradition that began in 1850. In 1888, the wine of the early patriarch Juan Extrems Doix won the gold medal in the Barcelona World's Fair.Phylloxera caused an abrupt halt and impoverishment in the region, but some of the first Carignan vines planted after the plague are now used for the extremely scarce 1902 Centenary Carignan. Grapes grown by the founders used to be sold to the local cooperative before they set up their own business.Poboleda is one of the tallest and coolest villages in Priorat. Valentí Llagostera says the dry cold northwest winds are responsible for the high acidity of the wine. The grapes ripen more slowly and the harvest usually starts a week later than in Gratallops.
