Producer Information
Around 1850, Alexis SEGUIN winegrower in Gevrey-Chambertin owned a small estate, he also grafted vines. The phylloxera crisis allowed him to highlight himself: he was one of the first and certainly a pioneer in Burgundy to graft with American wood to fight against this disease. Numerous awards concerning vine grafting were awarded to him at the end of the 1890s. The estate in the 1920s was then shared between his three children, Aristide, Blanche and Hippolyte. The latter inherited mainly the house and the Craipillot plot with an area of 0 HA 50 located just in front of it and a few other small plots of vines. During the turbulent years between the two world conflicts, Hippolyte continued to graft vines, devoted himself to horticulture and vinified around 1 hectare. Aristide, captain of the air force, becomes mayor of Gevrey-Chambertin. Blanche devotes herself to her family. From 1950 , Pierre, Hippolyte's son, began buying vines and was the architect of the reconstruction of the estate. He will buy a plot at a place called “Reniard” which he will replant in its entirety (1 hectare). The construction of a wine cellar was carried out in 1960, which at that time was a small event. Following the cessation of activity of Mr. Jantot where he worked part-time, he bought a plot of Lavaux (0 HA 10) as well as a plot of Craipillot (0 HA 25) and took over the operation on his own. of his father's vineyards; the estate then covers 2.5 hectares. In 1973 , the construction of a new cellar adjoining the first and premises to house the equipment enlarged the estate.
