Ruby red and intense color with orange shimmers. A widebouquet, slightly spicy. The taste is full, soft, velvety and intense.The tannins are elegant and sweet.

• Wine Advocate: The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino offers delicate tones and crisp lines that set it apart. Dark fruit is followed by dried cherry, pressed flowers and mild spice. The wine shows very nice balance and impressive length. The finish is polished and bright with balanced acidity that makes a good contrast to the depth and power for which Brunello is known. The wine is aged in botte grande and tonneaux for 30 months.

• James Suckling: The plum-fruit character with salted almonds here is fascinating. Full body, and this really grows on the palate, showing a powerful depth of fruit and wonderful length. Drink in 2020.

Producer Information

Azienda Agricola Talenti is a Tuscan wine estate located south of the village of Montalcino. It was founded in 1980 by Pierluigi Talenti when he purchased the Pian di Conte farm, and is now run by his grandson Riccardo. The estate has about 21 hectares (52 acres) of extremely low-yielding vineyards. About 16 hectares (40 acres) of this is planted to the Sangiovese Grosso clone, with the remainder planted to a mix of indigenous and international varieties. At harvest, the grapes are hand-picked and sorted on a vibrating table. They are fermented in modern temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wines are aged in large casks made from either Slavonian or French oak. A proportion of smaller French oak barrels (barriques) is also used. Talenti makes a range of classic Montalcino wines – two Brunello di Montalcinos, a Brunello di Montalcino Riserva and a Rosso di Montalcino. In addition, Talenti has produced Trefolio, a Toscana IGT combining Sangiovese with Canaiolo and Syrah, and Rispollo, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Current labels include Talenti Rosso, the white Wow and the Sangiovese-based rosé Oops – all Tuscan IGTs.
