A ripe, extroverted style, with bold quince, persimmon, apricot and peach aromas and flavors bursting forth, laced with a bitter orange thread and backed by anise and green tea details on the finish. Very juicy through the finish, allowing the power to linger easily.

• Wine Advocate: For the vintage, the 2015 Condrieu Coteaux du Vernon shows notable tension. It's tight, citrusy and gingery on the nose, then a bit lean on the palate, showing hints of bergamot and lime. Somehow, the finish manages to combine velvety richness and vibrant zestiness into a coherent, harmonious whole.

• Vinous: Limpid gold. Penetrating aromas of ripe citrus and pit fruits, violet and honey are joined by suggestions of chalky minerals and ginger. Juicy and deeply concentrated on the palate, offering expansive pear nectar, Meyer lemon and floral flavors that show superb clarity and mineral drive. There's a wonderful blend of richness and energy here, and I can find no rough edges. The mineral and floral notes carry strongly through the strikingly long, incisive, seamless finish, which hangs on with outstanding focus and tenacity.

Domaine Georges Vernay is one of the Rhône's most renowned wine producers, and has contributed significantly to the rejuvenation of the Condrieu appellation. Today, the estate has built on its reputation for superior Viognier wines and its complementary range of high-quality Syrah wines from Côte Rôtie.Founder Francis Vernay planted the domaine's original vines on a single hectare (3 acre) of south-facing hillside at the base of the Coteau du Vernon in 1937. The inaugural vintage of Coteau de Vernon was released in 1940.When Georges Vernay inherited the estate from his father in the early 1950s, he began to develop and expand these vineyards, as well constructing a series of terraces. Christine Vernay, George's daughter, has continued to expand the estate with the acquisition of several vineyard holdings in Saint-Joseph, Côte Rôtie and Collines Rhodaniennes, all planted to Syrah. As a result, Domaine Georges Vernay is now recognized as much for its Syrah, as it is Viognier.
