      Detailed Description

Dark-skinned fruit, forest floor and leather aromas emerge from the glass. The structured palate shows ripe blackberry, clove and licorice alongside close-grained tannins.

        Producer Information

This Conterno family is related to that of Conterno-Fantino through father Diego but unrelated in wine style. Diego Conterno is coincidentally located just up the slope from Giacomo Conterno, of no relation. Diego is a graduate of the Umberto Enological school and makes traditional Barolo, having worked under Beppe Colla at Prunotto. 2003 was the first vintage as Diego Conterno but the family's history dates back to post WWII. Father and son team tend to the vines and make the wines with Stefano joining in 2010. Diego has a classic style with the use of static fermenters, the use of cement tanks, and large botte which gives broad, brambly, and minerally driven Barolos. Since 2010 all the vineyards have been converted to organic and certified in 2014.
