      Detailed Description

2018 in an early ripening vintage. We began the harvests on the 27th of August in Mercurey. 2018 is a very classic vintage that can be enjoyed in its youth and is already drinking beautifully. In the Côte de Nuits, our red wines are rich and warm, quite similar to the 2009s. These are ripe, sunny and well-structured wines with powerful aromas of ripe black fruits. Their seductive characters make them comparable to the 2017 and 2011 vintages.

        Reviews:

        • Vinous: The 2018 Nuits Saint0 Georges Les Porets-Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a fine black currant and bilberry bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with quite robust tannins, not the most elegant NSG that you will find, althought there is decent freshness and salinity. Give this 3-5 years to soften its edges.
        • Wine Advocate: The 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes has turned out nicely, opening in the glass with notes of smoky berry fruit, sweet soil tones and a deft application of new oak. Medium to full-bodied, lively and fine-boned, its pretty core of fruit girdled by bright acids and underpinned by fine, powdery tannins, this is a suave, vibrant Nuits that will offer a broad drinking window.

        Producer Information

In 1825, Pierre Faiveley founded the firm that now bears the name Domaine Faiveley. At that time, the firm was a classic négociant, buying and selling wine. From generation to generation, with a strong commitment to the quality of Burgundy’s patrimony, the Faiveley family has purchased vineyards and is among the largest owners of classified vineyards in the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. Their holdings total 331 acres, of which, 30 acres are grands crus and 67 acres are premiers crus.
The objective of the family today, led by Erwan Faiveley, is to increase the firm’s holdings of great vineyards so that there can be complete control from vine to bottle across the entire range of wines. Along with this focus, Erwan Faiveley has renovated the Domaines cellars—in both Nuits-Saints-George and Mercurey—which now boast state of the art barrel presses, custom-designed wooden vats, and among the finest air-cured oak casks available in the world.
