      Producer Information

Karas Wines represents the perfect blend of sustainability, family tradition, and expertise, with the majestic Mount Ararat as its witness. The winery’s mission is to produce exceptional vintages from its own vineyards in Armavir, Armenia, recognized worldwide. The name ‘Karas’ is derived from the Armenian word for ‘amphora,’ a sacred clay jug used in winemaking here for over 6,000 years. This rich heritage, combined with Armenia’s centuries-old oenological culture, serves as our inspiration to shape the future of the birthplace of wine while reclaiming our position as producers of the world’s most coveted wines. The Eurnekian family, originally hailing from Armenia but scattered across the world due to the Armenian diaspora, has found their way back to their roots in their homeland. They have a deep desire to restore ancient traditions while simultaneously caring for sustainable ecosystems and biodiversity. Their experience is invaluable. Eduardo Eurnekian and Juliana Del Aguila Eurnekian, an uncle and niece, are the visionaries behind the prestigious vineyard estate, Bodega Del Fin Del Mundo, in Neuquén, Argentina. For over a decade, they have produced wines together in Patagonia, a region renowned for its indigenous wine varieties. Together, they have established Karas in Armavir, where the volcanic terroir imparts a unique character to the wines. Juliana, a passionate wine merchant and sommelier, has enriched her wine knowledge under the guidance of one of the world’s foremost mentors, Michel Rolland. With this unique combination of experience and dedication, they have created a project that places innovation and environmental awareness at its core. They firmly believe that Karas will bridge the gap between Armenia and the rest of the world, thus writing a new chapter in the history of Armenian winemaking.
