Producer Information

Umberto Fracassi is a respected wine producer from Cherasco, Piedmont, with a family winemaking tradition going back over 150 years. The estate is famous for being the only Barolo producer in Cherasco, crafting the unique “Mantoetto” Barolo from Nebbiolo grapes grown in limestone and marl-rich soils. Fracassi’s approach emphasizes traditional, minimal-intervention methods, aging Barolo in large Slavonian oak barrels for four years, resulting in complex, elegant wines. Besides Barolo, the winery also produces Barbera d’Alba, Dolcetto d’Alba, and the high-quality white wine Favorita. The estate maintains a small, artisanal production focused on quality and reflecting local terroir. While their wines are prized by enthusiasts, they are not widely exported but can be found in select markets.
