This Extra Añejo Tequila begins with hand-selected highland agave that is crafted in very limited batches. Reserva 44 rests for 43 months, spending the 44th month in petite oak barrels rotated daily. The result: a beautifully complex tequila with hints of warm vanilla, spice and luscious fruits. Presented in a fire-polished crystal vessel.

Nose: Roasted agave, marzipan, vanilla, and grass.

Palate: Rich, full-bodied, and delicate with mango, vanilla, and trés leches cake.

Finish: Smooth with a warming spice on the back palate.

Distillery Information

Just outside the town of Jesus Maria in the highlands of Jalisco, the Lopex family grows agave plants for making Tequila. At some of the highest elevations, single origin, blue agave is grown for 7 to 10 years there. Ken Austin found the family and partnered with them to make a new Tequila together — creating Avion Tequila. The highlands have the best volcanic soils and perfect combination of micro climates to produce the best Tequilas in the world. In fact, their signature Tequila was awarded “World’s Best Tasting Tequila” and “World’s Best White Spirit” in 2012 against 1400 other spirit brands at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Avion is crafted with a simple philosophy – creating a single origin Tequila through craft processes to ensure the natural, rich, and roasted flavors of the Avion agave. There are a few other things that help Avion stand out. The use or traditional clay ovens to slow roast the 100% blue agave, charcoal filtration, and a full copper pot still contribute greatly to their signature style.
