Fortaleza Añejo Tequila

With a rich family history in tequila, Guillermo Sauza launched Fortaleza in 2005, bringing back the traditions of previous generations at the family distillery that had sat unused for too long. This celebrated añejo was aged for 18 months in American oak casks.

Fortaleza Añejo Tequila Tasting Notes

Nose: Caramel, vanilla, butterscotch and cooked agave aromas. This tequila is so rich and complex that some people are even able to detect pineapple, peach, orange blossom, nutmeg, and raisin in the nose.

Palate: Full cooked agave experience continues with a thick and oily texture that coats your mouth in a very soothing way. Butterscotch, caramel, toffee, citrus, and hazelnuts are common flavors that people identify.

Finish: Oily, complex, outstanding.

Distillery Information

Fortaleza Tequila is based in Jalisco—the Mecca of Tequila—using brick ovens, Tahano stone mills, and a pair of copper pot stills in the escuala-vieja way (old school). They produce a traditional line of three core Tequilas: a Blanco, a Reposado and an Anejo, along with the occasional special edition.
