Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu Paris Edition 2020 Japanese Single Malt Whisky

Creating the perfect union between maturations whose diversity are rivalled only by their complexity, it wavers constantly between very simple classicism and very intense exuberance. Rich in twists and turns, the palette of flavours and aromas is filled with little scenes each more inspired and expressive than the next and pays tribute to the great talent of blender and distillery founder Ichiro Akuto. A limited edition of only 1833 bottles.

Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu Paris Edition 2020 Japanese Single Malt Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Red berries, blueberries, honey and dark chocolate. A hint of oak and nutmeg. Later also oranges and a tropical fruit note, mostly pineapple. Yellow apples and a subtle trace of smoke.

Palate: Quite some honey . After that, it gets fruity. This is followed by Vanilla and dark chocolate. A little woody at some point and then some spices.

Finish: Mid-long to long with plenty of honey, blueberries, oak and the same spices as on the palate. A hint of peat as well.

Distillery Information

Chichibu distillery is a Japanese whisky distillery. Founded in 2004 by Ichiro Akuto, and operational from 2008, it was the first new Japanese distillery since 1973. It is located at Chichibu, a city in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. Chichibu Distillery is the only distillery in the world to use 100% Mizunara Japanese oak washbacks for fermentation which aid in creating the distinctly fruity style of whisky for which Ichiro is known. Additionally, the distillery has its own cooperage and floor malting facility on site.
