Imperial Gordon & MacPhail 1996 Single Grain Scotch Whisky | 700ML

Founded by Thomas MacKenzie in 1897, Imperial Distillery was situated in Carron on the banks of the river Spey. The distillery closed in 1998 and has been subsequently demolished. This is a rare vintage single malt distilled on their premises in 1996 and released independently by Gordon & MacPhail.

Nose: Delicate and impressive depth on the nose.

Palate: The palate is nice and peppery, punctuated by ripe banana, orange zest and milk chocolate.

Finish: Impressive length on the finish, very unique and complex.

Distillery Information

Imperial was dogged by poor timing. Its chequered history meant that it never had a chance to become established as a single malt brand. Too late for the very earliest wave, by the time the category was becoming popular in the 1970s it was already committed to supplying fillings.
