Knob Creek is a small batch bourbon produced by Jim Beam, distilled in a more traditional style and aged 9 nine years. It is named for the area in Kentucky where Abraham Lincoln grew up, it is said that the creek nearly claimed his life when he was swimming.

Knob Creek Small Batch 9 Year Old | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: The nose is quite spicy and sweet. There are notes of melted salty butter on granary toast, there are notes of toasty oak and a touch of rye with caramel sweetness.

Palate: The palate is quite peppy and full. There are notes of candy floss and nut oil, a touch of spice and dark chocolate, a little spice and charred oak.

Finish: The finish is long with a touch of dryness, there are notes of nut oils and vanilla spice.

Distillery Information

Knob Creek is a small-batch brand of bourbon whiskey that was created by Jim Beam master distiller Booker Noe to embody the look, feel and taste of pre-prohibition bourbon. When prohibition was lifted in 1933, the sudden demand for bourbon presented a dilemma for whiskey-makers as they had to contend with the difficulty of starting distillations from scratch while emerging in a new, competitive market. In the midst of a industry-wide rush to sell, barrels that had hardly been aged were utilised and quality was often the casualty. A desire to recreate a style and standard of bourbon that existed prior to this state of affairs was the motivation for Noe to establish Knob Creek as a brand.
