A limited 17-year-old vintage rum distilled in Panama from the 2005 vintage and matured in oak casks. The best barrels from the vintage were selected and married together before being bottled at a powerful 51.2% ABV. Part of Malecon’s Rare Proof series, the high-strength bottling is designed to preserve an especially intense aromatic profile, with layers of caramel, dried fruit, chocolate, nuts and spice.

Nose: Rich spices, raisins, dark chocolate, roasted nuts, caramel and vanilla with mature oak.

Palate: Powerful and full-bodied, with caramel, dried fruit, vanilla, chocolate, warm baking spices and toasted oak.

Finish: Long and intensely spicy, with dried fruit, dark chocolate, vanilla, oak and lingering warmth.

Malecon is a Panamanian rum brand associated with traditional Cuban-style rum production, using molasses-based column-distilled spirit and extended oak maturation. The brand was developed by Marco Savio and focuses on aged expressions ranging from approachable releases to limited high-strength Rare Proof bottlings. The Rare Proof series is specifically designed around higher bottling strengths to emphasize the aromatic intensity and depth of mature Panamanian rum. This 17-year-old Small Batch is one of the collection’s limited vintage expressions.
