Producer Information
Gérard Mugneret is a Burgundy producer based in Vosne-Romanée. It practices organic and biodynamic farming and produces Pinot Noir from regional, village, premier cru and grand cru vineyards. The vineyard holdings span some 8.5 hectares (21 acres) of land across the Côte d'Or. This includes land in five Premier Cru sites: Les Gravains in Savigny-les-Beaune, Les Charmes in Chambolle-Musigny, Les Boudots in Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Les Brulées and Les Suchots in Vosne-Romanée. The estate's top bottling is from the Echézeaux Grand Cru vineyard. Mugneret uses around 33 percent new French oak for barrel maturation, and up to 50 percent for some of the Premier Cru appellations. The wines age up to 18 months in barrel and are racked just once, then bottled unfined and unfiltered. Gérard Mugneret produces its regional Bourgogne AOC and Bourgogne Passetoutgrains wines without the use of new oak. The Gérard Mugneret domaine was founded in the late 1960s by Gérard Mugneret's father, René – Gérard became the estate's vigneron in 1973. In 2005, Gérard's son Pascal joined the family business and now manages the estate.
