      Detailed Description

This translucent purple wine opens with signature scents of red and black berry fruits, cassis and crushed petals, has a fleshy opulent mouthfeel matched with notably plush tannins and natural acidity.

        Reviews:

        • Wine Advocate: Deep purple-black in color, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Weitz Vineyard has a decadent nose of plum preserves, blueberry compote and dried mulberries with touches of Indian spices, sandalwood, lavender and cloves. Full-bodied, soft, sexy and seductive with its come-hither spicy berry preserves layers and plush tannins, it finishes on a persistent exotic spice note.
        • Jeb Dunnuck: Coming from red volcanic soils located just above Backus Vineyard in Oakville, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Weitz Vineyard is undeniably mountain fruit and has a fresh, focused, chiseled style as well as incredible complexity in its black and blue fruits, incense, Asian spice, graphite, and ample crushed rock-like minerality. This beautifully complete, impeccably balanced beauty needs 3-4 years of bottle age yet will keep for 2-3 decades.

        Producer Information

Based in the venerated Napa Valley, Carter Cellars is a wine producer that makes classic California varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot sourced from some of the best vineyards in Northern California. From the To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville to the Truchard Vineyards in Carneros, Owner Mark Carter has made sure to obtain fruit from impressive terroirs throughout the Napa Valley. The label was founded by Mark and celebrated winemaker Nils Venge, who went on to begin Envy Wines in Calistoga in 2006. The pair now makes both wine brands in their Calistoga location, while continuing to source grapes from different, remarkable plots all through the valley.
