      Detailed Description

This is aromatic, gentle and round, without the complexity or depth of the 2018 that had a longer cycle and achieved full ripeness. They don't want concentration or fat here but juiciness, and they ferment the full clusters. They harvested quite early, and the wine finished with 14% alcohol.

        Reviews:

        • Wine Advocate: They aim for the traditional Altamira expression in the 2017 Finca Canal Uco, and it's textured and with tension, selected from five different soils from the property that is separated by the watering channel (canal) for the south of the Altamira, the traditional part of Altamira from the Piedra Infinita property. This is aromatic, gentle and round, without the complexity or depth of the 2018 that had a longer cycle and achieved full ripeness. They don't want concentration or fat here but juiciness, and they ferment the full clusters. They harvested quite early, and the wine finished with 14% alcohol.
        • Wine Spectator: Love the blackberry aromas with dried violets and other flowers. Full body. Powerful tannins, but extremely creamy and polished. The fine tannins caress your palate. Lasts for minutes. Needs three or four years to soften, but already a joy to taste.

        Producer Information

Familia Zuccardi is a family-run winery based out of the Bodega Santa Julia in the Mendoza region of Argentina. The company boasts numerous brands, each with a wide range of wines, covering classic Argentinian varieties (the wines are often varietally labeled) as well as numerous styles including sweet and sparkling wines. Zuccardi produced the country's first premium Tempranillo and also runs olive oil brand Zuelo.Founder Alberto Zuccardi moved to Mendoza in the 1940s from Tucumán, over 900km (560 miles) north, where his grandparents had settled after emigrating from Avelino, Italy.Due to the scarcity of water in the Mendoza region, Alberto experimented with a new irrigation system and, wanting to prove its worth to his neighbors, he planted a vineyard in Maipu. The experiment led to Zuccardi becoming one of the most prominent and prosperous wineries in Argentina.
