        Producer Information

Alban Vineyards is a California estate with a global reputation for its powerful Rhône-influenced blends and varietal wines, which are all sold on allocation, with a lengthy waiting list. The company is located in the Edna Valley in the southern corner of San Luis Obispo County. In total, Alban has 27 hectares (66 acres) under vine mostly located around the winery. This land has a range of different soil types and mesoclimates, making site selection vital. Alban produces around 6000 cases of wine per year, and has also sold grapes to many other producers of note, including Sine Qua Non. The portfolio is led by a group of single-vineyard wines from the Syrah grape – Seymour's, Reva, Lorraine and Patrina. Alban also makes two Grenache-based blends, along with a varietal Mourvèdre, and two white wines from Viognier and Roussanne. John Alban first bought land in the Edna Valley in 1990, choosing the area due to its climate, which he thought best resembled the Rhône Valley.
