Detailed Description
Armand Heitz is a young and dynamic winemaker who made permaculture and agroecology his philosophy. His estate is situated in Chassagne-Montrachet, which includes a beautiful château and a 9-hectare park. This particular cuvée comes from the lieu-dit La Barre, where the soils are shallow and made up of calcareous marl. The wine has quite a rich and generous bouquet, suggesting wild honey, almonds and a hint of menthol. The palate is rounded and marked by light tropical notes.
Producer Information
Domaine Heitz-Lochardet started in 1857 with the Nie-Vantey family, owners of many vineyards from Santenay to Clos de Vougeot. Post-phylloxera, many of the vineyards were sold, but the best Cote de Beaune vineyards were kept in the family by Georges Lochardet. Two generations later, Brigitte Lochardet married Christian Heitz and her share of the family vineyards, 5ha, became Heitz-Lochardet, which Brigitte organically farmed.
