Chichibu Distillery Golden Horse 12 Year Old Single Malt Whisky

Hold onto your horses! This is a super rare Chichibu, bottled by Golden Horse. Bottled at cask strength, so expect a lot of complexity and flavor. This is a very limited edition.Golden Horse Mushasi is a blend, where the non-malt part is made from molasses. The house style reminds us of Scottish Speyside whiskies, with distinct sherry markers, and a light stroke of burning peat. The new owner of Toa Shuzo later decided to keep the Golden Horse line of whiskies alive by importing Scotch whisky to be mixed with local grain. Speaking of horses, this distillery once was the ‘dark horse’, running the race without looking back at the duopoly formed by Nikka and Suntory. Maybe its legacy is the winner at the end of the day.

Nose: The aromas have alight fruit notes with malt and spice.

Palate: Smooth and soft with good sweetness and winter spice.

Finish: Finish is long, spicy and smooth.

Distillery Information

Chichibu distillery is a Japanese whisky distillery. Founded in 2004 by Ichiro Akuto, and operational from 2008, it was the first new Japanese distillery since 1973. It is located at Chichibu, a city in Saitama Prefecture, Japan.
