Detailed Description

Alexandra Rosé, a rarely made vintage rosé from Laurent-Perrier, was first released in 1982. It is crafted in an unusual way, with pinot noir and chardonnay grapes harvested at the same time and co-fermented together. Aged for over a decade in our cellars, the result is an intricately woven and rich champagne unlike any other. The 2004 vintage is only the seventh release of Alexandra Rosé in history of the House. The highest quality grapes - 80% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay - are harvested, hand-sorted, destemmed, macerated, and fermented together. Exclusively grand cru fruit is used in the blend, including Pinot Noir from Ambonnay, Verzenay, and Bouzy; and Chardonnay from Avize, Cramant, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. It received a 96pt rating from Vinous.

2004 Laurent-Perrier Alexandra Rose Champagne Tasting Notes

Nose: Very complex, with hints of wild strawberries, redcurrant jam and candied citrus accented by autolytic notes.

Palate: The apogee of finesse and elegance, Alexandra Rosé 2004 has a soft and vinous texture that expands on the palate. The initial impression of berries gives way to exotic spices and savory notes.

Finish: Alexandra Rosé is a taste experience unto itself, but also complements luxurious dishes such as lobster, foie gras, and truffles.

Distillery Information

Established in 1812, Champagne Laurent-Perrier has a long tradition of innovation in Champagne and can be credited with many of the ideas that have defined Champagne production since the mid 20th century. Laurent-Perrier was among the first to introduce stainless steel fermentation tanks to the region in the 1950s, resurrected the non-dosage Champagne category with the introduction of Ultra Brut in 1981, and sparked the revival of non-vintage rosé Champagne in 1968 despite the opinion of other producers that non-vintage rosés were not to be taken seriously. Today, Laurent Perrier's iconic Cuvée Rosé remains the benchmark for non-vintage rosé champagne.
