The balsamic, berry and milk-chocolate character to this wine is compelling. Full body, round tannins and a juicy finish.

      Reviews:

      • Wine Advocate: The 2010 Barolo Villero is born from a vineyard site with southwest exposures and thick, compact soil and clay characteristics. As a result, this wine shows a greater sense of power and heft at the back. It opens to a medium dark color and pretty garnet highlights. The 2010 vintage shows a uniquely firm and solid sense of structure that will bode very well for the wine's future aging potential. The tannins are firm, but just shy of feeling too hard. They will of course relax as the wine evolves in the bottle. Give it time.
      • Vinous: Brovia's 2010 Barolo Villero wraps around the palate with dark red cherries, plums, spices, menthol, new leather and licorice. Rich, sumptuous and beautifully layered in the glass, the 2010 is firing on all cylinders. Today the Villero is remarkably open, which is unusual for this wine. This early tasting provides a clue of what will develop over the next few years, and that is all hugely positive. Cloves, mocha and black fruit all add gravitas on the finish. Today the Villero seems to bring together the finesse of the Rocche and weight of the Ca' Mia. What a thrill it is to catch the Villero at this expressive stage in its development. A huge, creamy, totally voluptuous finish is full of appeal and pure sexiness.

      Producer Information

Azienda Agriciola Brovia is a family wine estate founded in 1863, and located within the Barolo DOCG of Piedmont. All production comes from estate vineyards, and the estate has some of the best holdings in the region, with vineyard plots across Castiglione Falletto (in the Rocche and Villero crus) and the Garblèt Sue section of Bricco Fiasco, and a fourth in the Ca'Mia vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba. Each of these plots has its corresponding, single vineyard Barolo wine label. Together, these wines are the flagships of the estate. Brovia also makes a generic Barolo from fruit from both areas, and a Barbaresco from the Rio Sordo vineyard. The Nebbiolo line up is completed by the Valmaggiore Nebbiolo d'Alba from the vineyard of the same name in Vezza d'Alba. There are three Dolcetto d'Alba wines, two from the Ca'Mia vineyard and the third from across the estate. Finally, there are two Barbera d'Alba cuvées, one from Ca'Mia and the other from Garblèt. The winemaking is traditional, and wines are aged in Slavonian and French oak casks of around 3000 liters in size. Viticulture has been fully organic since 2010.
