      Detailed Description

The refined and perfumed nose offers up a youthful mix of red and black cherries, plums, cocoa powder, grilled meats, a very complex base of soil, woodsmoke, cinnamon and cedary oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and sappy at the core, with a beautiful synthesis of pure fruit and great soil tones. The finish is very long, ripely tannic and impeccably balanced, with stunning complexity and focus and a vibrant, magical finish.

      Reviews:

      • Allen Meadows: There is just enough wood to merit mentioning on the attractively layered and super-fresh nose of dark currant, black raspberry and earth where additional notes of spice and floral elements are present. There is fine mid-palate density to the lilting yet tautly muscular and powerful flavors that coat the mouth with sappy dry extract while buffering the firmer and overtly mineral-driven sneaky long finish.
      • Vinous: The 2017 Chambertin Grand Cru has a very light bouquet at first, and I wondered whether there was some TCA. But it responds to aeration, evolving more and more fruit. The palate is very well balanced and lightly spiced, with fine grip and structure. The lovely crescendo to a fresh, slightly austere finish suggests that this needs several years in bottle.
