      Detailed Description

A delicate and deep magenta purple in the glass with wild rose, violet, blackcurrant and raspberry on the nose. With age, aromas of leather and cherry spirit. Sweet-fruited and floral on the palate, with a long, evolving finish

        Reviews:

        • Allen Meadows: The sleek, intense and solidly concentrated flavors are shaped by refined, and quite dense, tannins while exuding evident minerality on the firm, detailed and exceptionally serious and austere finish
        • Vinous: It has a very refined and focused bouquet, the new oak very well integrated here, layers of black cherries, boysenberry and crushed stone aromas. It conveys the nobility one expects from this Grand Cru. The palate is medium-bodied with firm but fine tannin. There is an arching structure to this Musigny with impressive density and girth on the persistent finish. Excellent.

        Producer Information

Domaine Drouhin-Laroze is a producer in the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy that specializes in producing wines made from Pinot Noir. The domaine has its origins in vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin purchased in 1850 by Jean-Baptiste Laroze. Eventually Alexandre Drouhin took over the estate, bringing his family vines from Chambolle-Musigny and incorporating them under Domaine Drouhin-Laroze. Today the family owns 11.5 hectares (28.5 acres) of vines spread throughout Burgundy and is run by the fifth and sixth generation of the family. The domaine owns vineyards in six grand cru appellations in the Côte de Nuits: Musigny, Chambertin Clos de Béze, Clos de Vougeot, Bonnes-Mares, Latricières-Chambertin and Chapelle-Chambertin. It also has plots in four premier cru regions and three village appellations. The grapes are all hand-harvested and transported to the winery in Gevrey-Chambertin. Grand cru wines are aged in 100 percent new oak, premier cru wines in 50 percent new oak and village wines in first-fill barrels. All of the wines are bottled without fining or filtration.
