Detailed Description
The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is a spice box with an array of cedar and clove, giving way to dried strawberries and dusty rose. This is lifted and finessed, displaying fantastic energy. Crunchy red berry fruits cascade throughout, offset by orange hints. The 2019 finishes with dusty tannins while leaving a staining of primary concentration and a cheek-puckering tension.
Reviews:
- Jancis Robinson: Dark maturing ruby. Brooding and a little rich on the nose and already showing some development. Generous and lush on the palate and could already be approached if it wasn’t for the gritty, tactile tannins that demand more time.
- James Suckling: A round and velvety-textured red with berry, dark-chocolate and walnut character. It’s layered and impressive. Chewy yet polished. Needs a few years, but has a bright future.
Producer Information
Owned by the family since 1960, Ripaccioli is still conducted at the household level. By capitalizing on the work started by his father Ilano in the seventies, the 1995 harvest marked the first production and consequent commercialization of Brunello di Montalcino. Azienda Agraria Le Gode, the business center and winery are the result of a careful restructuring of the characteristic farmhouse in the Tuscan tradition. The winery is also equipped with the latest technology placed at the service of a traditional production philosophy. The wine is made in stainless steel tanks with capacities from 50 to 75 hectoliters and temperature controlled. The consequent aging stage takes place in the cellar where , in an appropriate environment, the Brunello di Montalcino in barrels with an average capacity of 25 hectoliters Slavonian oak, for a period that varies according to the vintage, but still not less than two years, matures and evolves.
