Galateo is a deliciously rich fortified wine produced from 100% hand-harvested Grenache Noir from schist soil vineyards in AOC Banyuls. Full-bodied, thick and opulent, offering up wonderful notes of spiced plums, blackberry coulis, liquorice, vanilla, dark chocolate and earth.
Producer Information
Coume del Mas was created by Philippe and Nathalie Gard in 2001 and principally produces characterful wines from the steep slopes around Banyuls-sur-Mer in the far southwestern corner of France. The domaine now has around 15 hectares of vines, principally on the steep slopes around Banyuls sur Mer. Unlike much of France, the vineyards here are not shaped by religion, politics, or fashion. They are are the product of tireless men and women, dedicated to toiling in a harsh landscape for the treasures of the vine. Working almost entirely by hand, the vigneron here is in close contact with his vines, and knows every inch of soil and every nuance of flavor it can bring.
