Producer Information
The Donatsch winery was founded in Malans back in 1897. In the 1970s, Thomas Donatsch laid the foundation for the brilliant reputation of this small, extremely fine winery. Today his son Martin runs it in the fifth generation. As a pioneer and quality locomotive, he set the bar at a top international level. The Completer variety is a Graubünden specialty that is unparalleled and is only cultivated (again) by a few winemakers. Over 1000 years ago, this wine was served at the final Catholic mass, Completarium. Martin Donatsch usually doesn't harvest the grapes until mid-November. This highly ripe state develops into a wine with a dense, intense color and ripe fruit aromas. On the palate it is racy with an interesting interplay of sweetness and acidity. Over the years it develops amazing ripe aromas.
