It was made in honour of Arran master distiller James MacTaggart, who you can see on the front of the box, indeed, with a golden glass. The single malt was matured for 12 years in Palo Cortado sherry casks handpicked in Spain by James McTaggart himself. 12,000 bottles were produced at 51.8% ABV.

Detailed Description

Released to mark Master Distiller JAmes McTaggart's 12th anniversary with the Arran distillery, this single malt is a limited edition of 2006 casks, aged for 12 years and finished in Palo Cortado sherry casks from Jerez, Spain. Limited to just 12,000 bottles worldwide, this single malt has been bottled at a natural cask strength of 51.8% abv and is presented with a cheeky nod to 007 himself, James Bond.

Nose: Orange marmalade and sweet peaches with warming ginger and grassy notes.

Palate: Rich chocolate orange and citrus fruits with a kick of rock salt and buttery sourdough bread.

Finish: Cider apples and warming ginger with rich sherry notes.

Distillery Information

Situated on the Isle of Arran, Arran Distillery was founded in 1994 by Harold Currie, the former director at Chivas Distillery, and is one of the last remaining independent distilleries in Scotland. When the distillery was finally completed in 1995 — construction was halted for nearly a year when a pair of Golden Eagles built their nest near the distillery — it became the first legal distillery on the Isle of Arran in over 150 years.
