Nose: Rich sherry, dried fruit, dark chocolate, citrus peel, malt, and gentle oak, with a subtle earthy character.

Palate: Full and powerful, with dark fruit, chocolate, caramelized malt, orange zest, nuts, and warming oak spice.

Finish: Long and warming, with lingering dried fruit, dark chocolate, citrus, oak spice, and a gentle malty dryness.

Distillery Information

Ben Nevis Distillery was founded in 1825 at the foot of Ben Nevis near Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. The historic distillery has passed through several phases of ownership and production, including a period of experimentation with grain whisky production in the mid-20th century. Japanese whisky producer Nikka acquired Ben Nevis in 1989, and the distillery subsequently became an important part of Nikka's Scotch whisky holdings. The First Cask series was an independent bottling range associated with Direct Wines, featuring selected single-cask Scotch whiskies from distilleries including Ben Nevis.
