Alas, this whisky isn't really from the planet Mars, but from the Mars Shinshu distillery, which is just as exciting! It is Japan's highest whisky distillery at just under 800 metres, so it's nearly made it to space. 'Kasei' is the Japanese word for Mars, and the whisky is made from a blend of both malt and grain whiskies, married from a variety of barrels.

Nose: The nose is full of gentle white flower aromas and notes of sweet, ripe fruits.
Palate: The palate offers notes of warm spices, green apples, white grapes and honey.
Finish: Finish is lingering.
Distillery Information
Shinshu Mars distillery is a Japanese whisky distillery. Founded in 1985, and mothballed from 1992 to 2011, it is owned by Hombo Shuzo Co., Ltd. [ja], a Japanese "sh?ch?" maker based in Kagoshima Prefecture on the island of Kyushu, Japan. The distillery is located at Miyada, a village in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. At around 800 m (2,600 ft) above sea level, it is Japan’s highest whisky distillery.
