Bowmore offers impressive quality at an affordable price. This is vatted together from both ex-Bourbon and Sherry casks and has a lovely balance between the Islay smokiness and some floral, fruit and spice flavours.
Bowmore 18 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: Pungent, citrus. Stewing fruit, hints of damp wood and a very soft smoke.
Palate: Spirity at first, then gives way to perfume, fruit, plum jam. A good sweetness, peat smoke, grapey.
Finish: Seville marmalade, blossom, dark peat.
Distillery Information
Loch Indaal is not a lake, it is a large bay carved into the west coast of the island of Islay. Bowmore sits on the southern shore of that Bay, directly across from Bruichladdich in the north. The Distillery is in Bowmore the town, which is the capital of the island district.
