Detailed Description
Detailed Description
The flavor profile was incredibly intense— I did not expect such an old dram to be so intense— well-integrated layers of tropical fruits, leather, and wood left me savoring every little sip. I am incredibly grateful to the friend who took the opportunity to grab this bottle and subsequently opened it up to share.
Coleburn 1972 2020 GM 47 Year Tasting Notes
Nose: High-grade, high-grade, high-grade feeling, smelling the fragrance, I think it is a 46% bottled thing; it feels completely different from the old Shirley I imagined, I thought of the 40-year-old non-taken from SA Ben's (ball bottle) is also a high-vintage sherry, but it also has this way of presentation; very delicate floral aroma, a little passion fruit, some plant canes, herbs, very high-grade frosting is not greasy at all , then a bright fruity aroma that distinguishes the less specific yellow; the whole smells, very lively, very open, I'm surprised it's 47 years old?
Palate: The entrance is very solid, and the full-bodied wine brings a strong impact, just like the bursting taste brought by the 15yo CI in the peak period; under the very strong taste, it is all rich juice, and it is not. The ripe dark fruit, the opposite is the fresh juicy yellow fruit, lemon, passion fruit, mango, melon, etc.
Finish: The consistency of the flavor is well preserved, but there are still some regrets. Too high a degree still brings too much oral irritation, astringency and spicyness. Of course, I am not willing to add water to drink it.
Distillery Information
Coleburn Distillery is one of the many Speyside distilleries that didn’t manage to survive. It was mothballed in 1985 and since the equipment was dismantled and the buildings sold there is less chance that we will ever see a Coleburn Distillery revival here near Elgin – nevertheless Diageo is still the owner of the brand Coleburn.
