“Barrel-aged, or in this case ‘rested,’ gin is very en vogue right now,” said Max Pfeffer, Manatawny Still Works’ founding distiller. “But that’s not why they created this spirit. For a small distiller, they are breaking new ground and showcasing a full, well-respected portfolio. People loved our gin and we really wanted to offer an excellent barrel rested version.”
Manatawny Still Works 'Hidden River' Barrel Rested Gin Tasting Notes
Nose: There's no mistaking the oak influence on Hidden River Gin. Though light in color, the fragrance of fresh cut wood comes through on the aroma.
Palate: It's oaky on the palate, too, though with more wood than vanilla sweetness. The juniper competes for prominence with the flavors contributed by the barrel, which may be a little too strong.
Finish: Lingering.
