Because Ohishi has been maturing distillate in sherry casks for over 40 years, they have a long-standing relationship with cooperages from which they source the best casks. The result is a whiskey that takes on flavors of dark, dried fruits with notes of cinnamon and tobacco.

Nose: Sherry-forward nose with notes of oak, citrus, ash, and dried dark fruits.

Palate: The nose translates to the palate deliciously with lots of Sherry and dried dark fruits, accompanied by notes of vanilla, citrus, and oily nuts.

Finish: Long and lavish finish with a touch of Sherry, cocoa, dark fruit and spice.

Distillery Information

Ohishi is a unique family-run distillery situated on the banks of the Kuma River -one Japan’s fastest flowing rivers, renowned for its superior water quality. Founded in 1872 the distillery sits in the Southwest of Japan, nestled in an idyllic mountainous countryside. They grow a distinct strain of rice at this majestic distillery called “gohyakumanishi” (5 million stones), using a unique organic style of cultivation that incorporates koi carp.
