This 2010 vintage from Bruichladdich distillery is part of the Port Charlotte range of heavily peated malts from the progressive Hebridean distillers. Part of the Cask Exploration Series showcasing the influence of wood on the spirit, this release was matured half in first-fill American whiskey casks and half in second-fill French wine casks before the two parcels were married together for a year in MR casks from the Bordeaux left bank.

Nose: Summer fruits and peat smoke, with a salty sea breeze and chocolate coated coffee beans.
Palate: Sweet fruits, icing sugar and thick peat smoke with hints of orange and peach.
Finish: Medicinal smoke with a drying oak note and creamy vanilla.

Bruichladdich Distillery is a distillery on the Rhinns of the isle of Islay in Scotland. The distillery produces mainly single malt Scotch whisky, but has also offered artisanal gin. It is owned by Rémy Cointreau and is one of eight working distilleries on the island.
