The flavor profile is intense, seductive and spicy with a wonderfully textured and velvety character to the big, rich, forceful flavors of uncommon depth and astonishing length. Deep, sappy aromas of cherry, menthol, flowers and tobacco. Definitely worth tasting!

• Vinous: Medium red. Deep, sappy aromas of cherry, menthol, flowers and tobacco. Penetrating, aristocratic and gripping, with great nervosite Seems much more primary in the mouth than on the nose, with cool mineral and purple fruit flavors. Firmly structured, young and very long.

• Allen Meadows: This too displays noticeable oak influence but it's a bit more subtle because the wonderfully expressive nose of black pinot fruit and spice aromas offer more of a backdrop for the wood. Producer Information

Domaine Anne Gros is a wine producer based in the village of Vosne-Romanée, in the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy's Côte d'Or. The estate produces a range of wines from local and neighboring appellations across both the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grape varieties. The domaine has a total of 6.5 hectares (16 acres) across nine appellations, including parcels in the Grand Cru vineyards of Clos Vougeot, Echezeaux and Richebourg. Anne Gros also makes village-level Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny wines, as well as generic Bourgogne rouge and Bourgogne blanc wines. The vines are farmed according to biodynamic principles. Red grapes are vinified in epoxy-lined cement tanks, with whites in stainless steel. Barrel-aging typically lasts around 16 months with 80 percent new oak for Grand Crus, 50 percent for village wines and 30 percent for regional wines. The Bourgogne blanc is aged for 12 months in large-format (500L) oak barrels of which around 30 percent are new oak. Anne Gros is part of an extensive winemaking family in the area and joined her father François at the family estate in 1988. The domaine was named Domaine Anne et François Gros until 1995 and is now simply Domaine Anne Gros. The winery holdings also include two homestays in both Vosne-Romanée (La Colombière) and nearby Beaune (Le Patio). In 2008, with her winegrower partner, Anne also established Domaine Anne Gros & Jean-Paul Tollot at Cazelles in Minervois.
