Based in Morey-Saint-Denis, Domaine Dujac was formed in 1968 by Jacques Seysses, son of a successful biscuit manufacturer. The estate is now considered one of Burgundy’s finest producers, with a worldwide reputation. This particular release comes from Clos Saint-Denis, a Grand Cru vineyard that lies between the village of Morey-Saint-Denis to the south and Gevrey-Chambertin to the north, where the slope is very steep. 2002 is among their best vintages, when the grapes reached maturity while still retaining their acidity.

• Vinous: The 2002 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru is one of the finest releases of the decade. It immediately seduces with its cornucopia of red cherry and crushed strawberry aromas, scents of wilted rose petal and a light ferrous note. This is supremely well focused. The medium-bodied, beautifully proportioned palate delivers gentle grip, fine depth and filigreed tannins. There is a slight pepperiness from the whole-bunch addition toward the finish, which feels harmonious and poised. As the wine opens in the glass, it seems to gain weight and substance, turning almost 'punchy' on the finish. Superb.

Domaine Dujac is a highly regarded and critically lauded wine producer based in Burgundy's Morey-Saint-Denis appellation. It makes high-quality wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, ranging from entry-level Bourgogne to wines made from some of the top Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte de Nuits, including Clos de la Roche and Le Chambertin.The domaine was founded in 1968 by Jacques Seysses, who had spent the previous few years travelling around Burgundy learning the craft from the likes of Aubert de Villaine at Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Charles Rousseau of Domaine Armand Rousseau. He purchased a small, run-down property in Morey-Saint-Denis and planted some Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
