• Wine Advocate: Very deep inky-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Verdad is scented of freshly crushed black currants, warm blackberries and black cherries with touches of incense, damp earth and cigar boxes plus a waft of anise. Full-bodied and beautifully poised in the mouth, the elegant fruit layers are well framed by very fine, pixelated tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and layered. Drink through 2037.

• Jeb Dunnuck: The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Verdad is one of the larger, more opulent, almost over the top wines in the lineup. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a site in St. Helena, its deep purple color is followed by a huge nose of currants, chocolate, scorched earth, and toasted spices. Uber-rich, super concentrated, layered, and packed with sweet fruit, it nevertheless has incredible purity of fruit. It should shed its baby fat in 7-8 years and keep for two decades or more.

Based in the venerated Napa Valley, Carter Cellars is a wine producer that makes classic California varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot sourced from some of the best vineyards in Northern California. From the To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville to the Truchard Vineyards in Carneros, Owner Mark Carter has made sure to obtain fruit from impressive terroirs throughout the Napa Valley. The label was founded by Mark and celebrated winemaker Nils Venge, who went on to begin Envy Wines in Calistoga in 2006. The pair now makes both wine brands in their Calistoga location, while continuing to source grapes from different, remarkable plots all through the valley.
