        Reviews:

        • Wine Advocate: Here's a wine I have not seen in a few years. The La Rasina 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Il Divasco maintains the wide-scale aromatic approach and the bold intensity that I remember from past vintages. It opens to dark concentration and shows a smoky, tarry bouquet with baked cherry and campfire ash. There are spicy notes as well, with overtones of mesquite, Spanish cedar and barbecue. This is a bold and contemporary Brunello from a warm vintage. It's a lot to take in. Give those tannins a few more years to integrate. Production is 5,000 bottles.
        • Wine Spectator: Plum and cherry character with chocolate and walnuts. It’s full-bodied with powerful but polished and focused tannins. Tight and reserved, yet beautiful and impressive. Great structure.

        Producer Information

La Rasina is a Tuscan wine producer located on the slopes of the hilltop village of Montalcino. The estate is particularly known for its Brunello di Montalcino wines, but also devotes a significant portion of its winemaking to the production of Rosso di Montalcino and IGT Toscana Sangiovese-based wines. The company began producing wines in the late 1980s, and from 1997 onwards has been under the management of Marco Mantengoli. La Rasina encompasses 45 hectares (111 acres) of land, with 11ha (27 acres) occupied by vineyard. The vines span the northeast slopes of Montalcino and are planted at altitudes of 1150ft (350m) above sea level. The flagship of the Raina wine portfolio is the Brunello di Montalcino, which is barrel-aged for 24 months and in bottle for six months. The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is made from a single vineyard plot, Di Vasco, which is named for Vasco Mantengoli who founded the vineyard. The riserva is only produced in excellent vintage years, it spends 26 months in oak, followed by 14 months bottle aging. The remainder of La Rasina's red wine portfolio is almost equally split between its Rosso di Montalcino and IGT Toscana wines made from 100 percent Sangiovese. There are two expressions of Grappa di Brunello, one of which is a riserva, in addition to an extra virgin olive oil from its 4ha (10 acres) of olive groves.
